The quiet local roads are ideal for walking and cycling. The Trent Valley Way and Cuckoo Way both start at the Marina. Coarse fishing is available on the Chesterfield Canal all year round with permits sold on site. There are many other local coarse and trout fisheries. Horse riding at Grove House Stables in Misterton. Swimming pools in Gainsborough and Epworth.
The Caravan site is a short drive of Sherwood Forest where Robin
Hood lived, its also near to Lincoln with its Castle and famously
steep streets. Gainsborough and surrounding villages were home of the
Pilgrim Fathers.
The Waterfront Inn, adjacent to the site, offers a wide selection of Real Ales and good food. The White Hart is a short walk and offers similar facilities. West Stockwith Yacht Club in the Marina welcomes non-members to its clubhouse. The surrounding villages have a wide choice of pub restaurants.
The adjacent village of Misterton has a Butcher, Co-op. Supermarket
and Post Office.
Takeaway food outlets are plentiful
in the local area. Gainsborough and Epworth (home of the Wesleyans)
are
15 minutes drive and offer a wider variety of shops. A free bus to
Tesco’s Gainsborough store stops at the site twice a week which
is ideal for motor caravanners. |
